K2 are flying the flag for SDG Flag Day for fourth year running

K2 is proud to once again support SDG Flag Day, marking the fourth consecutive year that we have taken part in this global initiative.

The campaign raises awareness of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and encourages organisations around the world to demonstrate their commitment to building a more sustainable and equitable future. By flying the SDG flag, we join a global community working to turn ambition into action.

Today, 25th September, K2 are joining other businesses, governments, schools, and community organisations around the world to celebrate SDG Flag Day and mark the United Nations’ adoption of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The 17 SDGs form a vital part of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, a plan of action for people, planet and prosperity, adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015. The agenda and global goals provide a shared blueprint for a better future, and act as an urgent call for collective action by all countries.

This year is both the 10th anniversary of the adoption of the SDGs and the 5th anniversary of the SDG Flag Day campaign. These anniversaries create a strategic moment to reflect on the progress achieved to date and recognise the pivotal role of responsible businesses in driving sustainable development.

K2’s Global Head of Compliance and ESG, Linda Rafferty, comments:

“As participants of the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), K2 are proud to support the SDG Flag Day campaign. We are raising the SDG Flag again this year to reaffirm our commitment to advancing the 17 Sustainable Development Goals, in a bid to build a fair, inclusive, and sustainable future.”

Linda continues:

“Whilst we are committed to progressing towards all of the SDGs, we are placing focus on Gender Equality (5), Decent Work & Economic Growth (8), Responsible Production & Consumption (12), Life on Land (15), and Partnership for the Goals (17). These five goals are the most relevant for our organisation and represent the areas where we believe we can have most impact.”

Reflecting on the collaborative approach required to deliver K2’s Sustainability Programme, Linda closes:
